How much does charging an e-bike cost?
E-bikes are not only environmentally friendly but also extremely cheap to maintain. But how much electricity does a charge actually consume, and what does the electricity bill look like in the end?
The Calculation at a Glance
Let's assume a standard battery with 500 Wh (0.5 kWh) and an electricity price of 40 cents per kWh.
0,5 kWh × 0,40 € = 0,20 €
So a complete full charge costs you just 20 cents!
Costs per 100 Kilometers
With an average range of 80 km per charge, the following costs result:
- Costs for 80 km: €0.20
- Costs for 100 km: approx. €0.25
E-Bike
0,25 €
per 100 km
E-Car
ca. 6,00 €
per 100 km
Gasoline Car
ca. 12,00 €
per 100 km
Costs at Public Charging Stations
Charging is even free at many of our listed stations. Some providers (especially in gastronomy) offer electricity as a service for guests. With paid systems, you often pay a flat rate or a time-based fee, usually between €0.50 and €2.00.
Tip: Look for the green "Free" label in the BikeCharge App to find stations without fees.
